New York State is adopting the Center for Disease Control's most recent guidance regarding the use of masks and social distancing for people who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Yesterday, County Executive Mark Poloncarz said Erie County health officials would not be enforcing policies in businesses, instead leaving enforcement of recommended policies to the individual establishments themselves.

Many major retailers are now announcing what their maks policies will be, including Tops Friendly Markets.

The grocery store says it will allow vaccinated shoppers to enter the store without a mask.

The Democrat & Chronicle reports that Tops will also allow vaccinated employees to go without a mask as well.

Tops Markets says that vaccinated customers and employees are free to continue to wear masks if they choose to.

In a press conference Tuesday, the County Executive shared good news regarding the local COVID-19 infection rate, noting weekly cases have dropped 78 percent since the beginning of April.
