It's Tuesday which means I am forced to try something new.  Tony Tries has become somewhat of a revenge day for Val Townsend, as she gets to pick all of the things I need to try.  Today she took it easy on me, and I am sure glad she did.

I was lucky enough to try sensory deprivation at The Flo on Allen.  I was a little nervous at first because I didn't know what to expect, but in the end it was one of the most relaxing things I have ever done.

As their website says, "Imagine floating without any effort, free from gravity, experiencing a completely relaxed state of being.  You are free of any stress, tension, or pain.  There are no distractions, as if time stands still."  That may just be one of the most accurate descriptions of a service ever recorded.

As you climb into the chamber and close the door you are surrounded in complete darkness.  Your eyes do not adjust because there is nothing to see.  You find your position of comfort and just float.  No sound, just total relaxation.  It takes about 10-15 minutes to get into a position that you like and acclimate to the chamber.  Then, just like that, 90 minutes flew by.

I am not sure if I fell asleep, or even if my eyes were closed.  I was just there in complete darkness relaxing and it was amazing.  If you are thinking of doing this make an appointment now.  Who doesn't want to relieve some stress and lock themselves away from the world for a while??  We all deserve this, and I am willing to try it again if you need me to convince you more.
