WKBW is reporting a string of burglaries to homes and cars in the City of Tonawanda in recent days, and asking residents to stay vigilant.

Some of the burglaries occurred while people were asleep in their homes.

According to WKBW, "Police say two homes and five cars were broken into this past week on Franklin, James and Kohler Street. Burglars entered the homes through the back door while the homeowners were asleep upstairs. In both cases, the back door was unlocked. Money, prescription pills, and in one house a pilot license was taken from the home."

Tonawanda Police remind people to lock their homes and cars, and if anyone has any information related to the incidents, please call 716-692-2121 ext. 309.
