The COVID-19 vaccine has now made its way here to Western New York, and there is a lot of excitement, emotions, and maybe even a little anxiety. Like anything that's new and has any value at all, there is always someone out there looking to take advantage of those emotions.

The Better Business Bureau and the Federal Government are letting people in the community know about scammers online selling fake vaccines. There haven't been any direct reports of scams here in Erie County as of yet, but city officials are concern about the internet scams, those are the problem.

According to WGRZ, the Better Business Bureau had already begun to warn consumers of scams before the vaccine was even scheduled to arrive here in Buffalo. Some of the things to watch out for are, pay attention to, the information that anyone is trying to tell you, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Also, ignore calls for immediate action, those are usually calls that are made to tug at your emotions.

The U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement is expecting fake versions of the approved vaccines to start showing up in the U.S and, the government agency posted tips online that you can share with your family and friends to help prevent them from getting scammed.
