We take selfies of ourselves doing everything. Why not on November 6th when you hit the polls?

Because it's illegal in New York state.

 

According to this map on Vox.com, New York is one of those states where taking a selfie in the voting booth is technically illegal. (If you are interested, here's the State of New York's Election Law.) However, a recent lawsuit in New York state is challenging the constitutionality of the law.

In a recent article, the New York Daily News explains, "Under New York State law, showing marked ballots to others is a misdemeanor which can result in up to one year behind bars and a $1,000 fine."
