It’s been such a long time since many in Western New York have been able to go to an indoor movie theater and Regal Theaters are among the most popular in the Buffalo area. There’s good news this week if you’re looking to get back to a Regal Theater.

WGRZ is reporting that a few Regal Cinemas will reopen their doors this Friday, after months of being closed.

These Regal Cinemas will open this Friday, May 7th.

  • Regal Elmwood (Buffalo)
  • Walden Galleria (Cheektowaga)
  • Quaker Crossing (Orchard Park)
  • Transit Center and IMAX (Williamsville)

As for what to expect when you visit a Regal Cinemas, the capacity will be 33 percent (as per New York State COVID-19 guidelines), and face masks must be worn at all times in the auditorium, except when sitting while eating and drinking.

Masks must be worn in the lobby, restrooms as well. Employees will be around and address anyone who doesn’t follow guidelines, according to Regal’s website.

Guests will be able to purchase concessions via the app and there will be concession stations closed to maintain social distancing. There will also be no self-serve condiment stands open.

The reservation system will ask to leave two empty seats between groups (one for recliner locations), and 33 percent is the current New York State guideline, as mentioned above.

It’s been 15 months since I’ve been inside a Regal theater and I can’t wait to get back. It won’t look the same as before, but it’ll be good to get back to a theater again.
