Labor Day weekend is here! And while we are winding down the summer and relaxing this weekend, perhaps wine is what you’ve got in mind.

Johnson Estate Winery will be celebrating the founder's 100th birthday this weekend in Chautauqua County!

When it comes to Western New York wineries, Johnson Estate always gets a mention or two on the menu. After all Johnson Estate is New York State's oldest estate winery and it’s only a short ride from downtown Buffalo.

This Labor Day weekend is even more special for the winery in Chautauqua County. There are a few anniversaries that Johnson Estate winery will be celebrating this weekend and one of them is an honor of the founder.

Frederick Johnson Sr. was born in 1921 and would’ve turned 100 years old this weekend on September 5. Johnson Estate will be celebrating not only that anniversary but the farmhouse as well as it turns 200 years old.

My wife and I love Johnson Estate winery so much that we included it on the table at our wedding six years ago. I actually had no idea when we picked Johnson Estate wine to be part of our wedding that it would have an anniversary that we share.

We are so lucky to have so many great wineries, and breweries, here in the Western New York area. The weather looks pretty good to do some traveling around western New York and visiting some of these great places. Johnson Estate winery will be having some special events this weekend to celebrate Frederick Johnson‘s birthday the farmhouse anniversary and also the winery itself which was established in 1961.

Have a great weekend and grab a glass or two of your favorite wine to relax and celebrate all the hard work that you’ve put together so far in 2021. After the year and 3/4 that we’ve all had I think we all deserve a good glass or two this weekend.
