In case you missed the news, Rick Jeanneret will soon retire as the Buffalo Sabres play-by-play man. The 2021-2022 season will be his last, wrapping up a 51-year career with the organization.

Sabres fans adore Rick and his legendary calls. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that he is one of the most beloved people to ever reside in Western New York. The hockey world knows his name by heart and all the calls he made famous with the Sabres.

Kids would try and emulate him and his passionate style for play-by-play. I know I did as a kid -- when we scored in street hockey or youth ice hockey, we would try and replicate what his call would be of a goal or save.

50 years is a lot of time to build up an impressive resume of goal and save calls. Even brawls, such as the one in the 1997 playoffs against the Philadelphia Flyers (Steve Shields vs. Garth Snow); along with the 2007 brawl between the Sabres and Ottawa Senators (Marty Biron vs. Ray Emery and then Andrew Peters vs. Emery).
