Last week, Erie County health officials said it would be only a matter of time before the novel coronavirus would be in Erie County and now, the first case in New York State has been confirmed.

According to WIVB, Governor Andrew Cuomo has confirmed that the first case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been detected in New York State.

The patient is described as a "woman in her late thirties" and contacted the virus while traveling abroad in Iran. She is experiencing respiratory symptoms but not in serious condition and has been in a controlled situation since arriving back in New York State.
