The Buffalo Bills have to cut down their roster to 53 players by August 31st, so this Saturday's final preseason game at Highmark Stadium against the Green Bay Packers will be many players' final chance to impress the Bills coaching staff.

The Bills didn't wait until next week to make roster changes, as they signed two new players, placed one on injured reserve and waived another.

The Bills signed running back Kerrith Whyte and cornerback Tim Harris.

They also placed offensive lineman Forrest Lamp on the IR, while wide receiver Duke Williams was waive/injured.

Williams has been on the Bills roster since 2019 and became a player many Bills fans were clamoring for to see the field when he was a bigger part of the roster that season. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2016 by the Los Angeles Rams. After being cut before the season, he spent two seasons in the Canadian Football League. Williams signed with the Bills in January of 2019.

Williams getting waived/injured isn't a big surprise. The wide receiver depth might be the deepest in the NFL and the Bills top five receivers are set in stone (Diggs, Beasley, Sanders, Davis, McKenzie) and the chances of Jake Kumerow making the roster is high.

There are also others vying for spots such as Tanner Gentry, Isaiah Hodgins, Lance Lenoir and Marquez Stevenson, so Williams was in tough trying to make the 53.

Williams also doesn't play as much special teams, like the others, which is another reason he was behind the 8-ball.
