A lot of the high school rivalries come from how close these schools are to each other. Some of these schools represent the same town or they may only be minutes away representing towns that share a border.

Growing up in West Seneca, the biggest rivalry I knew of was the one between West Seneca West and West Seneca East. I played soccer in high school and even if we lost every other game, we always wanted to beat West. Football games between these two schools were always loud and fun to attend. Lots of fans of both schools were in the stands and it just brought a certain energy to the stadium.

These rivalries stay with us all our lives. I know for me, my son Avry plays soccer for Frontier now and when he played against West Seneca West, I wanted him to crush them. My dad moved a couple of years ago from our home off Clinton street to a home near West Seneca West and when I visit him, I let out a "Go Trojans" when I pass West Senior High.

These rivalries are great for the community, fans, students, and the athletes on the field. If you have a chance to go to one of these rivalry football games this week, do it! Go out and support your town and your school. And if you are in West Seneca, go head and let out a "Let's Go Trojans"
