Teenager Defends Her Controversial Name Online; Here’s Why She Is Getting Bullied

Imagine how hard this has got to be for this poor girl. After all, it's a horrible ironic situation that anyone could understand her frustration.

Meet Isis.

She's a 14-year-old girl from Oklahoma who has recently switched schools after the amount of taunting and bullying became too much for her to handle. Isis is actually the Egyptian goddess of wisdom, health and beauty, but it just so happens the the most notorious, powerful terrorist group in the world right now named themselves that as well.

I’ve had people come up to me: ‘Why are you killing us Americans?’ I’m an American too!” said the seventh grader, who has since transferred to a new school. “A girl came up to me and said, ‘I saw you on the news last night … you were killing people.", according to Yahoo.

Isis posted a plea for people to own their name and be loud and proud. She makes the heartbreaking plea on Facebook that has been viewed over 113,000 times.

In 2014, believe it or not, 300 girls were named 'Isis' in the United States according to the U.S. Social Security Administration data.
