Sometimes in life an opportunity comes along that you just can't pass up. That happened to me this week when I was given the chance to fly in a restored World War II Boeing B-17.

The Liberty Foundation's B-17 - known as the "Memphis Belle" - is one of only 13 B-17s that fly still fly today. There were originally over 12,000 B-17s produced between 1935 and 1945, and sadly over 4,000 were lost in combat. The B-17 is often called a "Flying Fortress" because of her defensive fire power saw action.

The Liberty Foundation's 2012 Salute to Veterans is coming to Buffalo this weekend, July 21 and 22. For more information on the Liberty Foundation, and details on how you can take a flight on the Boeing B-17 visit www.libertyfoundation.org
