For the last couple of years, Robert Downey Jr. has said that there are no plans for a fourth Iron Man movie — and he hasn’t appeared to be interested in making another one, to be honest. And that fact is seemingly supported by his Marvel contract, which does not include another solo outing beyond Iron Man 3. When (and if) Marvel re-ups the actor’s contract, that could very well be subject to change, when (and if) Downey Jr. is open to it. That time appears to be now.

Last week, Robert Downey Jr. revealed that Sherlock Holmes 3 will begin filming this year, with Guy Ritchie returning to direct the long-developing sequel. Lo and behold today’s update that a new screenwriter has been tapped to rewrite the script — because when Robert Downey Jr. says something is happening, he enters into a binding verbal contract with the universe and essentially wills his thoughts into existence.

He’d already majorly hinted that it would happen on Jimmy Kimmel Live, but now Sony’s official Twitter account says it’s confirmed: Robert Downey Jr. will appear in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot from Sony, Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Superhero films are really into the whole “choose a side” thing this year. Batman and Superman, the X-Men and Apocalypse (okay, that’s easy — Oscar Isaac and Michael Fassbender’s side, obviously), and the most brutal super-battle of them all: Iron Man and Captain America. After repeatedly failing to secure a director, WB’s Pinocchio may have finally found its maker in Ron Howard, who is reportedly coming aboard to direct the long-gestating live-action take on the classic fairy tale.
