Anyone in Western New York who was associated with High School Football or Lacrosse knows the name of John Faller.

Coach Faller spend many years building up both sports not only at Sweet Home High School but all across Western New York.

It was very sad news to hear of his passing, and now the Sweet Home community will celebrate his life.

According to an email from Sweet Home's Donald Feldmann, a memorial gathering will take place on the Sweet Home turf field on Friday, July 26th.

John Faller Community Memorial Gathering - Friday, July 26, 8pm

The Sweet Home Community lost  a true legend in the passing of long time teacher and coach, John Faller, on Saturday, July 13.

In his honor, Sweet Home is offering the opportunity for the community to come together to remember John in a brief memorial gathering that will be held on Friday evening, July 26 at 8pm. The gathering will take place on the football and lacrosse field of the Sweet Home Turf Complex located on the campus of Sweet Home High School, 1901 Sweet Home Road in Amherst.

A few select friends, coaches and colleagues will offer memories of John and the ceremony will close with a moment of silence. Since John's passing one light standard has remained on at the Turf Complex to honor his memory.

The gathering will be preceded by the very first Sweet Home Alumni Lacrosse game. Faceoff for the game is scheduled for 7pm.

The community is welcome to attend and are asked to watch from outside the field fence or in the bleachers. Once the game ends, the community will be allowed on the field for the memorial ceremony.

A John Faller Memorial Fund has been established at the request of the family to aid student athletes in the two sports John loved to coach: football and lacrosse. District staff will be present to collect donations if needed.

Donations can also be sent to District Offices, 1901 Sweet Home Road, Amherst, NY 14228 in care of John Faller Memorial Fund.

In the event of inclement weather, the memorial gathering will move inside the main gym at the High School at 8pm.

The event is open to the public and if you want to make a donation to the John Faller Memorial Fund you can on Friday or mail the donations to the Sweet Home district offices.
