Summer's always a time to pack up your bags and head off with the family somewhere.  Disney is of course a popular choice, maybe Virginia Beach or if you're like my family, anywhere near a ballpark usually does the trick.  (We've been to see the Atlanta Braves spring training while at Disney, the old Yankee Stadium while visiting New York City, the Nationals play while touring Washington DC, the Phillies after a few days at nearby Hershey Park and even to the Little League World Series Park in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.)  Sometimes though, it's nice to find someplace new and less traveled!

TheStir.CafeMom.com  came up with a list of "18 Summer Destinations You've Probably Never Heard Of."  Some of these may not actually be vacations, but they may amount to a weekend road trip or a detour from your summer plans.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Woodstock Museum  in Bethel, NY - based on the 1969 music festival.

Gatorland in Orlando, Fl - A unique idea for the brave at heart.

Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD - You'll have to check out the website to understand this one.

Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, Pa - An amusement park for kids.

Wisconsin Dells- Waterpark Capital of the world.  ***My kids would LOVE this one!

Santa's Village  in Jefferson, NH - Celebrate Christmas throughout the year.
