According to ABC News, award-winning physicist Stephen Hawking died peacefully in his home in Camridge, England early Wednesday morning according to a family spokesperson. The inspirational scientist was only 76 years old.

One of his many major discoveries was that a black hole is not really entirely black.  Hawking said, adding how that discovery would be critical to “understanding how paradoxes between quantum mechanics and general relativity can be resolved."

One of his most memorable quotes was from a 2010 interview with ABC News. He was asked about giving the best fatherly advice and this was his response.

One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember is it rare and don't throw it away.

He has written such books as, "The Universe In A Nutshell" and "A Brief History Of Time".

His cause of death is unknown but Stephen has been battling with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, more commonly called ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease since 1962.
