Soon No Appointments Needed at Three Niagara County DMVs

People who fail to plan ahead soon won't have their DMV errands foiled in Niagara County.

For the better part of a year, Niagara County's DMV offices have required appointments for all transactions.

Now, there will be an option for walk-ins.

WIVB reports by mid-April, the Niagara County's three DMV offices will each have one day per week for people who haven't made appointments in advance.

“Our first priority has to be to keep people safe and meet the mandatory New York State guidelines and we believe this new plan continues to do that while also providing greater flexibility for the public to complete their transactions. I look forward to the day that business returns to usual, but we have not been given that greenlight yet.”

According to WIVB, the walk-in days for the three offices will be:

• North Tonawanda: Tuesdays
• Niagara Falls: Wednesdays
• Lockport:Thursdays.

Online appointments will no longer be accepted on those walk-in days.

According to WIVB:

People who go to a DMV office during a day with walk-in hours must be in line by 11:30 a.m. before the office closes for lunch from 12:30-1:30, and then before 4 p.m. to be in line before the office closes for the day.

 

Patrons must still follow social distancing guidelines, wear a mask, and are encouraged to bring their own pen.
