Snow and Cold For Sunday in WNY: Here’s What To Expect

Happy New Year! It's officially January, which usually means cold and winter weather for Buffalo. While we had a pretty mild December, January will look more wintry after New Year's Day, and you can expect that to start tomorrow in Western New York.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for all of Western New York from Saturday night through Sunday afternoon.

There will be rain showers on Saturday afternoon, but that rain switches to a mix briefly, before going to all snow for most in Western New York through the overnight. That steady and light snow continues through much of Sunday.

This means that it will be snowy and cold for the Bills game at Highmark Stadium, as they host the Atlanta Falcons at 1 pm.

Snow accumulations of 3-4 inches are expected for Buffalo and much of Western New York per WIVB, with slightly less totals in the southern tier, as the precipitation will turn the snow in that region after it does north of Buffalo.

The snow will cause some slippery conditions for your Sunday drive, so leave a little extra time for your commute to the stadium tomorrow, and bring a snowbrush and gloves.

Sunday will be the first time that the Atlanta Falcons will be in Orchard Park since 2005. They were at the Bills in 2013, but that game was played in Toronto.

As for Monday, more cold temperatures are expected with a chance of snow. Highs will only be in the mid-20's.

Winter will definitely be here by January 2nd.
