Snow days, we lived for those!   Well, a lot of kids got there wish today, with most Buffalo area schools closing through Thursday.  Now, with a snow day, we can finally do some serious sledding.

if you want your kids to get out of the house, how about hitting some of Buffalo's best sledding hills?  According to nyup.com buffalo has some of the best:

1) Delaware Park/Shakespeare Hill

" Located within Frederick Law Olmsted-designed Delaware Park (Buffalo's Central Park), Shakespeare Hill is closest to Lincoln Parkway and Marcy Casino. Shakespeare Hill is where the annual outdoor Shakespeare in Delaware Park festival takes place."

2) Amherst Middle School

"There is a sloping hill behind the middle school that is great for smaller children. This is a neighborhood setting, a friendly place that is a perfect sledding destination perhaps for families squeezing in a little sledding between other family errands."

3) Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens

"By far one of the more picturesque sledding hills around, children (and some adults) begin at the top of the westernmost late Victorian-era glass dome of Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens - and shove off."

4) Chestnut Ridge Park

"Chestnut Ridge Park could be called the granddaddy of area sledding hills with the longest and fastest runaround.  It also has a might view from atop its hill looking toward downtown Buffalo."

5) Ellicott Creek Park

"Ellicott Creek Park is situated in Tonawanda,  and much of it runs alongside the gently-curving shores of Ellicott Creek... open year-round and in winter has sledding, snowshoeing and cross-country ski trails. The park is open from 7:00 a.m. until dusk."

Hope you find time to hit one of these hills, with your kids, or fun friends.   Yeah!
