As Americans, we tend to not take all the vacation time we're afforded by our employers.   I definitely fall into that category, and it's mostly because I don't have gobs of money to throw at airfare to bring me some place cool! :)

There's NOTHING wrong with Staycations, especially here in WNY because there's ALWAYS something to do, but sometimes ya just wanna get away!

Health.com listed six signs you should use a vacation day soon...I'm ashamed to say I identify with every single one.  Do you?

  1. Every little problem feels like a huge issue.  Occasional curve-balls are normal, but it's harder if all you DO is work.
  2. Your coworkers keep asking if you feel ok, or say you seem tired.  Others usually key in on how stressed you are before YOU even do.
  3. You make more mistakes than usual.  Studies show you're more likely to make mistakes when you're overworked, and a lot of people try to compensate by working more.
  4. You have more aches and pains.  Being stressed releases chemicals in your body that cause inflammation which make you more sensitive to pain.
  5. You're having trouble sleeping.  Those who work too hard have a harder time unwinding before bed, and even when you DO fall asleep, the quality of your sleep is lower.
  6. You're feeling overly cynical about your job.  If you suddenly hate everything...your job, your company, your boss, your coworkers...you may just be burnt out and need more than a weekend to recharge.
