There is no way to truly show the gratitude that we have for the brave men and women who serve in the United States Armed Forces. In this ever changing world, it is more important that we salute and support our military and those who chose to sacrifice for our freedoms.

Seaman Braeden Hitcome, a native of Forestville, New York, is one of those that we thank this week. Seaman Hitcome, grew up in a military family and has a passion for serving. Hitcome attended Forestville High School and graduated in 2020. According to an email that we received from the US NAVY:

“I joined the Navy because my dad was in the Army so military is in the family and I wanted a foot in the door getting into law enforcement,” said Hitcome. “I knew there’d be lots of travel and I've always wanted to serve.”

The USS Gerald R. Ford is one of the world's largest warships and according to the NAVY is one of the most vital weapons/ships the US has in it's fleet.

USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) represents the first major design investment in aircraft carriers since the 1960s. The ship is engineered to support new technologies and a modern air wing essential to deterring and defeating near-peer adversaries in a complex maritime environment.

Thank you to Seaman Braeden Hitcome and all who are serving or have served. As a brother to a US Marine, I also am grateful for the sacrifices that the families make when loved ones answer the call to protect and serve.
