Say Good-Bye To I Love NY Signs On The 90

Your next ride along the 90 could have a little less love on it.

The state announced that it has agreed to remove nearly 80% of the "I Love NY" signs that were erected along state highways in 2016.

The signs will be relocated to State parks in an agreement with the Federal Highway department.

The state will relocate the signs to avoid a 14 million dollar penatly from federal officials.

The Federal Highway department claimed the signs violated U.S. rules and state law.

Overall there are 514 signs along state highways.

According to the agreement between the Federal Highway Administration and the state DOT, "Motherboard" signs ( the first in the groupings of five) will remain up at the borders of the state as part of an experiment that will be reassessed in the coming years.

Overall, around 400 signs will be relocated.
