Future plans for Seneca One Tower include a rooftop dog park.

Seneca One Tower has gone through quite the renovation and reinvention in the last few years. The 38-story tower was constructed in 1972, and originally was home to Marine Midland Bank.

In the 1990s, HSBC took over as the main tenant until 1999 when the company moved its headquarters to New York City.

According to Wikipedia, Seneca One Tower is the second tallest privately owned building in New York State.

More details about what the dog park will look like are not available. But mention of it is used as a selling point for the residential units available to rent in the building.

According to the listing for units at Seneca One Tower, amenities include: secure building access, a fitness center, community lounge, WiFi, bicycle storage, a food court, outdoor seating, and the rooftop dog park -- with a notation it will be coming soon.

There are 115 apartments in Seneca One Tower, randing from market-rate studio and one-bedroom apartments, to larger, two-bedroom units also available.

The tower is a mixed-use space, with public tours now available. To book a public tour, click here.

Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
