This winter has been brutally cold and snowy across Western New York. But unlike other years, the City of Buffalo and it's residents have had an especially harsh winter. With snow piling up and then thawing and flooding and freezing again, the houses and buildings have taken a beating. But what will it cost homeowners to fix the issues that they find when spring rolls around? Because of many factors, it will be expensive.

According to reports, because of shortages and supply issues, combined with petroleum prices, prices have gone up for roofing supplies considerably.

Due to increased raw material and transportation costs, GAF is announcing a price increase of
6-8% on all residential roofing products, effective January 31, 2022. All orders shipped on
or after January 31, 2022 will be invoiced at the new level.

Pricing out shingles and roofing estimates have also gotten a little more difficult as prices increase for 2022.

If you need to replace your roof, you may have noticed that roofing prices seem to be higher than what they were only one year ago. The average reported cost for asphalt shingles is $5,460- 8,750 on a 1,600 sq.ft. ranch style home.

But if you are new to owing a home or not that skilled in seeing what issues might be happening because of the harsh winter, the experts say there are a few things to look for. The biggest is water spots on or around your ceilings.

The weather for the start of March 2022 is going to be the typical roller coaster of warm ups and freezes. That spells plenty of trouble for roofing systems. Keep and eye out for issues. If you catch them early enough, you might save a bit of money.
