According to the Rockefeller Center Twitter,  The tree will be cut down on November 10 and make its way to NYC on a 2-day journey.

Trees are donated each year to become the US's most iconic Christmas Tree. From the Rockefeller Center website,

"The Christmas tree is a tradition that dates back to 1931, when construction workers erected the first on the center plaza block, where the tree is now raised every year. As the stewards of this tradition, we make every effort to maintain the original events important to the spirit of the holiday season at the center."

The tree will be lit for the first time on Wednesday, November 28th.
