It is going to get hot here in the 716 over the next couple of days. Records could fall this Wednesday and Thursday as a heatwave comes through the area.

The chances are good that we could see highs of 90 or greater for the first time this year here in Western New York this week and those highs will be pushing the current records for daily high temperature.

WGRZ's Patrick Hammer tweeted out that on Wednesday the high in Buffalo could reach 90 for the first time this season.

That will come very close to the current record high for June 15th. The record right now is 93 degrees. That record was set back in 1994.

It will be a bit cooler on Thursday with highs in the upper 80s. The record high for June 16th is 94 and that was also set back in 1994. It must have been a hot week in 94 since record highs were set on June 145h, 16th, 17th, and 18th that year.

Don't hold your breath hoping that those hot temps will stay with us for a long time. We will see a massive cold front move across the country and across Western New York.

Starting on Friday the temperatures will drop down to the upper 70s and then as we head into the weekend we are looking at much cooler days.

For Saturday, we are looking at a mix of sun and clouds with a high of only 69 and then more of the same on Sunday for Father's day. We are looking at mostly cloudy skies with a high of 68.

That is a 20-plus drop in our high temperatures from Wednesday and Thursday until the weekend and Sunday.

For Monday, we are looking at a high of 71 before another warm front comes along being rain and thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the mid to upper 70s.
