On Friday afternoon, I got a very disturbing phone call from my bank. They were calling to ask me if I had used my card that morning to buy stuff at Target and a bodega in the Bronx! I was obviously here in Buffalo all day, so there is no way it could have been me. I immediately reached for my purse to see if the card was still there, and it was! It had never left my possession, so how could this happen?!

At that point, I knew I was a victim of credit card fraud. I don't know how these criminals got my card number, but they did and charged about $70 worth of stuff.  It could have been more because they stole my bank card number. Lucky for me, I had just switched my direct deposit to a different account, so there was only a little bit of money in there.

You can never be too careful with your information. Here is the government website to help you make sure what happened to me doesn't happen to you!
