Popular Festival Returns to WNY
As mask mandates vanish, vaccine requirements are lifted, and the weather warms, one can't help but think of the summer festival season in Western New York. One popular WNY festival has announced its return, along with a slew of new additions for 2022.
The Rochester Lilac Festival announced that it was coming back in 2022 last year. And now with spring fast approaching, the popular Western New York festival has announced some new editions to its lineup for this year's edition.
The festival, which hasn't taken place since 2019, is scheduled to run across three weekends in May (The 6-8th, 12-15th, and 19-22nd). In addition to long-time favorites like the Lilac Parade which is returning for the first time in two years on May 7th featuring 20 marching bands, festival organizers announced earlier this week that there will be a Health and Wellness Experience presented by Evans Bank that will include various fitness classes, sponsored by Western New York fitness organizations.
There will also be events such as Craft Beer and Wine tasting expos, Art in the Park, the Recipe 21 High Spot Party, The Lilac Run (5k & 10k), The Donut Dash, and a Kids Zone.
One of the big draws of the festival is its free live music. In the past acts like the BB King Blues Band, The Lone Below, Starship, The Mowgli's, and more have taken the stage. The festival has yet to announce its 2022 entertainment lineup.
