On Tuesday morning, a brand new mask mandate went into effect in Erie County that requires everyone to wear masks at all indoor public places. The announcement was made on Monday by Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, and is part of a potential, four-phase process.

The mandate will be reevaluated on December 13th. Phase two requires vaccinations. Phase three would be capacity limits. Phase four would be shutdowns.

On Tuesday, it was announced that masks would not be required at both Highmark Stadium and KeyBank Center, since those venues already have a vaccination requirement in place.

One popular Buffalo bar and restaurant also instituted their own vaccination requirement.

Mr. Goodbar on Elmwood in the City of Buffalo announced on Tuesday that they will start requiring proof of vaccination from patrons, immediately.

They will not require anyone to wear a mask, since Erie County's rules on Monday state that venues that have strict vaccine requirements, do not have to have mask requirements.

Mr. Goodbar does encourage patrons to wear a mask while inside but adds that it is not required.

This news in the past 24 hours comes on the heels of COVID-19 spikes in Erie County. On Monday, Niagara County announced that they will not have a mask mandate at this point in time. You can read that statement here.
