An online petition has been started on Change.org with hopes of getting the Buffalo Niagara International Airport to be renamed. According to WGRZ the proposed renaming would be to honor the late Tim Russert.

Tim Russert was an award-winning journalist and South Buffalo native. Russert was most known for his moderating role on Meet the Press and NBC's political coverage. He passed away in 2008.

Airports around the country are named after prominent local figures, and now the hopes are to have Buffalo do the same. The petition has gained over 1,000 digital signatures, will be presented to the NFTA board at the end of February.

The NFTA officials has addressed this petition stating they are concerned that a name change would hurt the airports regional identity. What do you think? Comment below.
