The 2022 NFL Draft has a lot of uncertainty going into Thursday and to say the first round had intrigue would be a vast understatement. The draft went off the rails by pick 11 as teams made surprising picks and trades that shook the NFL landscape.

The Tennessee Titans traded Pro Bowl wide receiver AJ Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Baltimore Ravens traded Hollywood Brown to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Buffalo Bills traded up two spots to pick 23 to draft Florida cornerback Kaiir Elam. The pick fills arguably the greatest position need for the Bills and a player who flew up draft boards.

But the talk of the end of the first round was what the New England Patriots decided to do with pick 29 after trading down from pick 21.

The Patriots took guard Cole Strange out of UT Chattanooga. Strange by many experts had a 3rd or even 4th round grade. Maybe, he could sneak into round 2. New England took the 3rd team FCS player in round one.

The Los Angees Rams do not have a pick until round 4. They were holding a meeting with the media when New England took Strange.

Both Rams GM Les Snead and HC Sean McVay had some fun at the Patriots expense for the pick of Strange.

Twitter was slamming the Patriots for the pick because by all accounts, he’s a guy they could have gotten later.

Strange could be an all-star offensive lineman, but it certainly is the bud of jokes tonight.
