One Of Buffalo’s Oldest Bars Is Set To Reopen Soon

Anytime there is news of a new establishment opening in Buffalo it is always exciting to hear. There are so many great places in this area to eat, drink, and be merry. Now I am a big fan of the older buildings being used to house any new business. I am not sure if I have an 'old soul' but the warmth and history recognized once inside some of these vintage buildings just feels right to me.

So, I was very excited to learn that one of the oldest bars/restaurants that closed during the pandemic is reopening its doors. What is the unique thing about this particular establishment?  It was built way back in 1868 first as a store and a saloon. They were one of the first places to start offering free snacks to bar patrons to help offset them getting too inebriated.

WGRZ reports that Ulrich's Tavern on 674 Ellicott Street is planning to open soon.

That is great news, not only for that area but for all the people that work and live around there especially for people either working or visiting the new medical corridor. I have fond memories of Ulrich's starting back in the '90s.

Friends and co-workers would meet for lunch, dinner, or just-drinks. The vibe was always really laid back and the food was delicious. My favorite bartender was June. She was a no-nonsense kind of woman, always quick to re-fill your glass with a side of sass. Here is to re-living the good 'ole days. CHEERS and BOTTOMS UP!
