Back in March, the New York State Thruway Authority halted collecting cash at tolls booths, when the COVID-19 pandemic kicked into high gear, but as of 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday night, that is now over.

According to WGRZ, the Thruway Authority has begun collecting cash at toll booths, starting today (June 4th).

There will be some changes, however, for safety.

Plexiglass will be in place at cash toll lanes and all toll collectors will wear face coverings. The toll work stations will also be sanitized throughout a shift.

Because of these measures and the resuming of cash tolls, the Thruway Authority says drivers paying cash may experience delays.

Any non-E-ZPass driver who used the tolls between March 22nd and May 31st will receive a one-time toll bill in the mail of the address the vehicle is registered to.
