The Niagara County Legislature has voted to legalize the purchase and use of small fireworks and sparklers.

As part of the legalization approval, fireworks will only be available for purchase twice a year, around the 4th of July and New Year's Eve. The law also forbids the purchase of anything that explodes or shoots into the air.

The vote was passed with a 9 to 6 approval, with some voters worried about the safety of children. However, those who passed the law said that fireworks are typically used at family gatherings and should be safe.
