It seems like there are so many news reporters leaving Western New York lately. Some very notable names have announced that they are leaving the Queen City.

Within the past month or so, anchor Mel Orlins and reporter Jhas Williams both left the morning program on channel 4 in addition to sportscasters Paul Stockman and Mary Margaret Johnson. Just last week, hometown reporter from Lancaster, Gabby Mediak announced that she will be leaving for a job in a bigger market.

Now, another reporter from channel 2 has announced her abrupt departure. Liz Lewin from WGRZ, took to social media to announce on Tuesday that her last day will be on Thursday, two days later.

The team here at WGRZ - You are a TERRIFIC group of people and the caliber of journalism that is churned out of this newsroom never ceases to amaze me. To my team TOP TO BOTTOM -- thank you for embracing me, encouraging me, challenging me...I'm forever grateful.

According to the Nielsen DMA Rankings, Buffalo, New York is market #53 in terms of size. Reporters that want to stay in news and TV frequently move to bigger markets to move up the chain and make a significant amount of money.
