It will be a wild winter weekend for cold weather in Western New York this weekend.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued two different winter weather advisories for this weekend.

First up is a Wind Chill Advisory has been issued for all of Western New York from 6 pm Friday until Saturday afternoon. We could see the wind chill drop to 20 below for parts of Western New York.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Western New York starting on Sunday evening through Monday night. The Winter storm could produce more than 9 inches of snow in less than 24 hours.

Both advisories warn of an impact on travel across the region and with travel from difficult to almost impossible Sunday evening at 6 pm through Monday evening at 6 pm.

This will be the second big snowstorm that will move across Western New York since the beginning of 2022. The first one was a Lake Effect snowstorm that dropped nearly 20 inches of snow on parts of Buffalo and Western New York.

The storm should move out of the area by late Monday night and the rest of next week will be mostly cloudy skies with scattered snow showers. A blast of cold air will be back in Western New York late next week as well. We could see the high temperatures only in the upper teens and low 20s.

So far this Winter Buffalo has received around 34 inches of snow, which is about 11 inches less than the yearly average for the area.

The European forecast is calling for a major snowstorm to impact New York starting late Sunday night into Monday afternoon.
