It's the smallest town in the whole state of New York, has an interesting ghost story linked to it, is an hour and a half away from Buffalo, and was a temporary residence of famous Buffalo Sabre Tim Horton?

A lot of cool stories come out of this little town!

Red House, NY, has a population of 38 (according to the 2010 census) formed in 1869. The town got its name from its landmark, the Red House, built during the Civil War.

Some notable residents include George Heron, president of the Seneca Nation in the 1950s and 1960s; Marvin Hubbard, an NFL football player who was born and raised there; and Buffalo Sabres' Tim Horton!

Ok, here's where it gets spooky.  According to a rumor on the internet (and you know we love those) the historic Red House was originally owned by the Frecks family. The story goes on that members of their extended family suffered greatly during the Civil War.

The loss of life took its toll on the family. When eldest son Johnny Frecks died in the war, his widow began a relationship with his older brother James. The family rejected the two for this affair, and it is said they both killed themselves. The story ends that the two ghosts haunt the Red House for the rest of its existence.

Again, this story is an internet rumor...and locals reject the story.  In fact, the house was demolished in the 1990s. That didn't stop THIS YouTuber for searching for it though. I have to admit, it is very creepy in a Blair Witch sort of way.

See what I mean? Anyway it's just another one of my Google Maps time-killers now as I search for ANY residences in this small town. Let me know if you find any remnants of the old Red House!  Might be worth the short trip to check this place out though.  I am a sucker for a good ghost story!
