This is serious. What the heck are we going to do? Governor Cuomo announced yesterday that New York State would propose the ban of plastic bags at grocery stores and, if approved, the ban would begin on January 1, 2019. Only California has the ban of plastic bags in the United States.

Cuomo, a Democrat, introduced a bill that prevent groceries, convenience stores and all other points of sale from using single-use, film plastic bags with certain exceptions, such as bags used for produce or those used for home-delivered newspapers.

Here's the list of original ideas that New York State thought they would put in place:

-Keeping things the way they are
-Imposing a state fee per bag that is used
-Imposing a bag fee per transaction
-Banning them completely
-Stores need to have a recycling program
