Recently, Architectural Digest put together a list of the 55 most beautiful small towns in the country and two towns here in Western New York made the list.
Rhinebeck, New York
Located in Dutchess County in the Hudson Valley, Rhinebeck is made of the town and village of the same name. Rhinebeck is home to around 8,000 people and the views of the Catskills mountains are one of the reasons Rhinebeck made the list. Another big plus is the observation tower located in the Ferncliff Forest. The 200-acre forest is a favorite hiking spot for many New Yorkers.
Cold Spring, New York
The village of Cold Spring is located in Putnam County, New York, and is on the National Register of Historic Places since many of the 19th-century buildings in the village have been preserved. Around 2000 people call Cold Spring home and the village sits directly across West Point on the Hudson river. The Appalachian Trail is only six miles east of the village as well.
Of course, there could be an argument that there are plenty of other towns and villages in New York that could have made the list.

One of the ones is East Aurora which is just south of Buffalo New York. Home to Knox Farm and lots of amazing architecture, East Aurora could be in the running to make the list next year.
