New Sabre Alex Tuch Grew Up On ‘Black and Red Sabres Era’ as a Kid [PICS]

Buffalo Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams finally made a move on Thursday morning that not only all Sabres fans had been waiting months for, but the entire NHL as well.

The Sabres traded Jack Eichel to the Vegas Golden Knights with a 2023 third-round draft pick, in exchange for 20-year-old forward Peyton Krebs, 25-year-old forward Alex Tuch, a top-10 protected 2022 first round pick and a 2023 second round pick.

The trade has been mostly well received by Sabres fans, although there is some wondering if the Sabres could have received more if they had decided to retain some of Eichel's massive salary, which kicks in next year.

Alex Tuch is currently injured, but there's hope he's back in the next month or two. He's been a solid 20-goal scorer for the Golden Knights, after originally being drafted in the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Tuch grew up near Syracuse and was a huge Sabres fan as a kid. But he didn't grow up watching the likes of the French Connection or Pat LaFontaine. Tuch started watching the Sabres in the early-to-mid 2000s; which means he grew up on the black and red Sabres era, and the likes of Daniel Briere, Chris Drury, Ryan Miller, Jochen Hecht, J.P. Dumont, Jay McKee and Jason Pominville.

Tuch said on social media that it's a dream come true to play for Buffalo. He dreamt about it as a kid.

Krebs and Tuch are hopefully core players for the Sabres rebuild, which they probably should have started two or three years ago.

It's at least nice that it appears Adams and the Sabres are trying to build a team the correct way, with a great pool of prospects and young NHL players.
