The Buffalo Bills are currently in South Carolina, practicing with the Carolina Panthers in preparation for their preseason game against Carolina on Friday.

But back in Western New York, Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula met with Speaker of the New York State Assembly, Carl Heastie and majority leader, Crystal Peoples-Stokes.

They're conducting a "stadium-needs" study, according to WIVB.

Along for the tour of New Era Field on Tuesday was Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz and assemblyman Pat Burke.

The Bills lease to play at New Era Field runs through 2022. Heastie said that the the question of what will happen when the lease expires is still unanswered.

“They clearly said it’s premature on everything. They never said they wanted to a new stadium. They never said that to me. They didn’t say that to Crystal. They said they want to see when the lease is up. That’s why every time you guys ask a question, I say it’s premature because the Bills owners didn’t even ask for a new stadium. They’r not even sure what they want at this point,” Heastie said.

According to WIVB, Erie County’s DPW estimates the stadium’s structure could last another 25 or 30 years with proper up-keep.

It might seem early but it's smart to try and keep tabs on anything in regards to stadium options. Four season will go by quick and this town bleeds Bills football.
