Mysterious Crop Circle Appears in Genesee County

A mysterious crop circle has appeared in a field in Genesee County. People noticed the circle on July 22 at Star Growers Farm, near the border of Elba and Byron.

But UFO's aren't responsible (this time).

WGRZ reports the new culture and clothing brand Observe Gently is behind it; the O and G featured prominently in the crop circle's design.

The company's founder told WGRZ:

"I hope Observe Gently can be a place for difficult yet meaningful conversation, gentle observation and even a place to disagree without being disagreeable."

The history of crop circles is fascinating though. Of course some have been thought to be impressions left by alien aircraft, or --as it is in this case-- the work of humans, Live Science gives some other background:

"Crop circle enthusiasts have come up with many theories about what create the patterns, ranging from the plausible to the absurd. One explanation in vogue in the early 1980s was that the mysterious circle patterns were accidentally produced by the especially vigorous sexual activity of hedgehogs. Some people have suggested that the circles are somehow created by localized and precise wind patterns, or by scientifically undetectable Earth energy fields and meridians called ley lines."
