The escape from the snow will be a short one as a major cold front is set to sweep across New York this week.

Highs are expected to be in the 50s and possibly 60 by Wednesday before they drop down into the 20s on Thursday and remain in the 30s on Friday and Saturday.

Snow is also expected to come along with the cooldown with rain from Tuesday and Wednesday turning into snow on Thursday. The good news is that the change of snow ends by Thursday evening for parts of the state.

The weather has been pretty brutal for parts of the state already this winter. Areas near Lake Erie and Lake Ontario have been dealing with lake-effect snow since Thanksgiving. Buffalo received almost 200 inches of snow in 2022 with most of it coming in November and December.

Currently, Buffalo holds a commanding lead for the Golden Snowball Award which is given out every winter to one of the 5 major cities in Western and Central New York that gets the most snow.
