Lovell, who grew up in Queens, New York joined WIVB in August of this year. Her bio on the Channel 4 website says that she attended the University of Miami before joining WETM-TV in Elmira New York. During her time at college, Lovell interned for a news station in Miami and for E! News in Los Angeles.

As winner of Miss Buffalo, Lovell will not only represent the "Queen City" in the Miss New York pageant, but she will also represent the Miss Buffalo scholarship organization at various events across Western New York for the next 12 months.

Prior to the win, Lovell was judged on several criteria by the Miss Buffalo committee. Candidates were judged on private interviews, red-carpet appearance, talent, and On-Stage interviews with a social media impact pitch.

If Lovell wins the Miss New York pageant, she would represent New York in the Miss America pageant in 2024.
