Two military aircraft were dispatched to intercept an American Airlines flight headed to New York from Los Angeles after a disturbance was reported on board.

NORAD reported that Flight 34 landed safely after 4 p.m. Sunday. The nature of the incident was unclear but a law enforcement official says it isn't thought to be terrorism.

The flight was intercepted the about 100 miles west of New York and was shadowed, by the military until it landed. The FBI was reportedly responding to the incident.
