Melody’s Thoughts On Kate Spade… RIP
RIP Kate Spade
We are losing too many amazing people to suicide. Depression is real. It has debilitating effects on people. Kate has been known as a fashion icon with her handbags, clothing, etc... I always thought of her as a strong woman and a woman to look up to.
Kate Spade and her husband Andy Spade (brother of comedian David Spade) got married in 1994. More recently, they started to have a rocky marriage. Andy Spade told Kate that he wanted a divorce and Kate didn't. A rocky marriage can seriously take it's toll on someone. It doesn't place you in the right frame of mind. It can be hard to see clearly and make proper decisions.
Kate Spade left behind a 13 year old daughter. Whether you believe she is selfish or not for choosing to make this decision, you really don't have a right to judge because you don't know how she was feeling. She obviously wasn't in the right frame of mind. This is where the mental health issue comes in. The feeling of depression and suicide can weigh heavy on an individual. So much so that Kate decided to make this life altering decision. Her suicide note is really left to interpretation but TMZ did confirm from officials that they had marriage issues. The note read:
"Bea - I have always loved you. This is not your fault. Ask Daddy!"
We don't know what Kate meant by this. We know that her daughter is left in a compromising position. My thoughts and prayers go out to Kate Spade's family, fans, and friends and more importantly, her 13 year old daughter.
