The five New York counties considered "high" for COVID-19 are:

  • Bronx County
  • Kings County (Brooklyn)
  • Queens County
  • Broome County
  • Tioga County

In those five counties, the transmission of COVID-19 is very high. People should be wearing a mask when they are indoors and cannot social distance at least 6 feet.

In these counties, the CDC is recommending that people get the COVID-19 vaccine and booster shots.

Masks are still required to be worn at all healthcare facilities across New York State and are optional in correctional facilities, homeless shelters, airports, and on public transit.

These New York State guidelines could change if we see an increase in the amount of COVID-19 cases in the state.

Currently, New York is one of the states with the highest Flu cases in the country, and adding more COVID-19-positive cases could put a strain on the healthcare system in the state.
