There's a major construction plan set to begin on Abbott Road in South Buffalo starting this summer, according to WGRZ.

The $10 million project will reportedly take three years to complete. Everything will change in a big way, according to South District Buffalo Common Council Member Christopher Scanlon.

“This is a complete infrastructure overhaul. So we’re talking about the street, sidewalks, curbs, lighting, the whole shot,” Scanlon said.

There will be three phases of the construction:

  • The first will be between Southside Parkway to Meriden Street, which will be this summer.
  • The second will be Potters Road to Dorrance Avenue, likely next summer.
  • Last will be the road section in front of Mercy Hospital, which sits on Abbott near Cazenovia Park.

I currently live in South Buffalo and the roadway definitely needs to be updated, especially with how much traffic there is between Mercy Hospital and Southside.

The construction will definitely cause temporary headaches for drivers though -- I'm expecting traffic to be less than ideal this summer in South Buffalo...
