According to Governor Andrew Cuomo, low-risk youth sports can begin on July 6th, for New York State regions that are in Phase 3.

That would include Western New York, which is expected to reach Phase 3 reopening on Tuesday, June 16th.

These are the sports that are deemed low-risk:

  • Baseball
  • Softball
  • Field Hockey
  • Cross County
  • Crew

Also, according to Heather Ly of WGRZ, two spectators are allowed per athlete.

This is great news for parents who have kids in these sports. It would be a late start for sure but that could still mean all of August and most of July can see these sports in action.
